St Andrews Christian College Board
October 19 2023

We began our gathering this month with a discussion around Education. This is something you probably think we should be talking about often, and we do. But this was a focused discussion on redemptive learning. It is our desire to see students do the very best they can academically, but this is driven by an understanding that we are doing much more than just aiming for a good ATAR score. We come back to our mission -
To educate our students so that they are well skilled, understand life on the basis of biblical truth, and are motivated to walk with God and serve Him in their lives, so that they will be a positive Christian influence in the world.

Our Principal, Nick Haines, in his report informed us about the health concerns of Natalie Farmer. We join with the rest of the staff in praying for her, and ask the whole College Community to pray too.

A few weeks ago the Board, Principal & Business Manager met to discuss a strategic plan to 2040. Tonight we reviewed and approved the basis for a strategic plan to be worked on by Mr Haines and the leadership team.

John Presant, head of Secondary School, joined us tonight to present a report in person. We heard about an increase in pastoral care; an implementation of peer mentoring; a strengthening of a transition program for students coming into Year 7; and new electives made available for students. Did you know there are 92 unique courses available for VCE students at St Andrews?

There has been a delay in getting some of the building materials for the new building, but we are still confident of using these new spaces before the end of November.

Tonight we farewelled Jonathan Green from our Board. Thanks for your wisdom and experience in the time you have served here. God bless you and your family.

We congratulate the 42 VCE students who have concluded their classes and are now preparing for exams. May God bless you as you continue to be a positive Christian influence in the world.

We look forward to seeing many of you at the Presentation Events on 5 December.
